Newfoundland, St. John's, Canada

Here we are at the most eastern part of North America - capital of Newfoundland, St. John's. Four hours flight from Ireland, easy access to France. An eclectic and most interesting place. The brightly coloured homes, George St. pubs [we attempted to have a drink at every one!], participating in the tradition of being 'screeched in', whales, fog, great coastline, Quidi Vidi village and home of the regatta. Again, a heat warning - we had our jackets on here. Over in the east, they just don't cope with heat. Our St. John's SERVAS host, Anne, gave us a tour of the mighty Anglican church where her husband had been a minister. A highlight had to be standing on Cape Spear - the most eastern point - seeing many whales there and just rambling on the shore line. Signal Hill was full of fog, not so visible. Need to look at google images to see what we missed :-).  Leaving St. John's was challenging. It meant the last of our visit to the Atlantic provinces. We already have plans to return - perhaps via Ireland :-) :-)
