New Hampshire and Maine, USA

"Live free or die". That's the motto for New Hampshire. So... what does that mean. As far as we could tell, it meant buy guns and knives, don't wear helmets, trashy trading posts with chained up bears. In contrast to all that, it also had the magnificent White mountains, lost river, alpine country and the Kancamagus Scenic Road.... this was the way we decided to travel to the other side..... via Bear Notch Road.

MAINE - SUNDAY RIVER:

The drive to Sunday River was lovely - Maine is another beautiful state of "New England". And it seemed that crossing the "live free or die" and Old Man of the Mountain state into the "dirigo - I lead" state was apt as I was here to participate in a two day technology conference and explore the area of Sunday River and Bethel.

The view from the Sunday River resort was awesome... especially at sunset. In winter, the place is a classy ski resort. In summer, it's more known for its geocaching and disc golf. And MOOSE! And wild turkeys! We arrived with the mist and explored the old homes, covered bridges and narrow laneways that made up the area around Bethel.

Woodstock neighboured Sunday River - its claim to fame was the town that had the last crank phone. Had to stop and find out more!
