Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA
We arrived in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania after a reasonable border crossing - we were herded into the official building once again. However, as we had evidence that we had done this before and were obviously good citizens, it was a relatively short visit. The drive through the Susquahanna Valley was really beautiful and worth travelling off the highway a bit. We arrived at Judy and John's place - our first SERVAS homestay of our trip. Lewisburg is a grand, historical town and peculiarly, home to Bucknell University AND a federal penitentiary. The architecture of the University and their student accommodation homes meant many, many photos as they were really beautiful. I didn't manage a visit to the penitentiary!
Whilst Adam went off canoeing for over 20 miles down the Susquehanna River, I went walking and walking to check out all the home and found this amazing shop called "Street of Shops"... needless to say we have a lot of things to ship back home!
We celebrated July 4th at a small neighbouring village called "New Berlin" and it was FABULOUS. The funnel cake [like a flat donut] was scrumptious and the small hot air lanterns lit up the sky for ages before the main fireworks.
